Major
Depression

Everybody knows someone that
is naturally happy, and it usually takes a lot for them to
feel down. They experience all of life’s ups and downs, and
even feel sad for a period of time. However, they have an
amazing ability to overcome this sadness and discover
happiness once again. There are other people, experiencing
a similar situation, that may fall into a major depression for
reasons that they can't understand, and there are even times
when they are never able to recover from it. They
often feel ashamed about their condition, but for most
people it is not something that is under their control.
Depression is a medical condition, and this means medical
intervention is needed to properly help this condition.
Simply telling someone that
has major depression to "snap out of it’" does not work,
and will often making them feel even worse. This is not a
condition that they can control, and if they could, they
would snap out of it. What's even worse is, when someone is
feeling this way, they usually begin to shut out the
people that care about them the most, and that leaves their
close friends and family wondering if they did something
wrong. This is why major depression makes it difficult to
relate to anyone.
There are some individuals who have had major
depression in their lives have said that even though
people tell them that they care, they simply did not believe
it. They felt worthless, and they felt they were no fun to
be around. The most well meaning intentions can feel like
something they are not. This leaves the person with major
depression feeling even worse than before, and it also makes
the people close to them confused. Some friends
will quietly drift away, and this happens because
they just don’t know what to do or how to act.
If you are in a major depression, It is
very important that you see someone for help. If you allow
those feelings of despair to take over your life, you may end
up taking your life. This is definitely not something you
should have to handle by yourself, and your doctor will have
some good solutions that should make you feel better again
before you know it. If you know someone who
is suffering from major depression, do your best to be
there for them, and encourage them to seek help so they
can start to feel better again. They may act like
they don’t want you around and they may fight you, but if you
really care about them, you need to be strong for them
even when they seem to be rejecting you.
